The Veranda Historic Bed & Breakfast Inn
The Veranda is a destination in itself and so is its historical and notable environment. Several public rooms in The Inn still have their original ornate tin ceilings and light fixtures. The original clawfoot tub and pedestal sink in The Holberg Room ( Room Two) add to The Inn's historical ambience. Constucted of Georgia heart pine, The Inn featured one of the first commercial uses of electricity in the Senoia area. The Inn has eleven fireplaces and most have their original metal covers. The beautiful garden and the old 1906 wooden barn further add to The Inn's nostalgic ambience. The Inn served as The Holberg Hotel until the late 1920's at which time it was used as a residence by the Holberg's. Over the years it has been used as a residence, boarding house and tea room until it was loveingly restored in 1985 by Jan and Bobby Boal and began its run as The Veranda Historic Bed and Breakfast Inn. In 2003 The Inn became a private residence again for four years. In January of 2005 Rick and Laura Reynolds purchased The Inn, refurbished it and once again The Historic Veranda Bed and Breakfast Inn shines. Many notable guests have stayed at The Veranda over the years including Margaret Mitchell who interviewed Confederate Veterans ( who had their yearly reunion at the then Holberg Hotel for many years) for her book, "Gone With the Wind". William Jennings Bryan ( of the Scopes Trial fame) stayed at The Inn in 1908 while running for President. The huge wrap around veranda porch full of rocking chairs and porch swings add to your journey back in time. The movie, "Broken Bridges", starring Toby Keith, Burt Reynolds, Kelly Preston, and Lindsey Haun was filmed at The Veranda in 2006. Other movies were filmed in the area with nearby Riverwood Studios, most notably "Fried Green Tomatoes".
